EN 1012-2 Compressors and Vacuum Pumps - Safety Requirements - Part 2: Standard Test Method for Vacuum Pumps

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 1012-2 testing. This standard applies to all vacuum pumps, vacuum pump combinations and vacuum pumping systems. The standard lists the major hazards associated with vacuum pumps and specifies the safety requirements applicable to the design, installation, operation, maintenance and disassembly of vacuum pumps during their foreseeable life and subsequent disposal.

EN 1012-2 Compressors and Vacuum Pumps - Safety Requirements - Part 2: Standard Test Method for Vacuum Pumps

Scope does not include pumps designed to pump continuously in open systems where the pump inlet pressure is greater than 75 kPa (750 mbar) absolute, i.e. vacuum cleaners, ventilation fans. Vacuum pumps intended for use in special applications will also comply with any special standards relevant to those applications.

The extent to which the relevant machines and hazards, dangerous situations and dangerous events are covered is specified in this standard. When the provisions of this type C standard differ from those specified in type A or B standards, the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of other standards for machinery designed and built according to the provisions.

The overcurrent protection of the power circuit can be installed outside the vacuum pump housing in the field. In such a case, the User Manual will indicate that the user should prepare for the installation of the overcurrent protection of the power circuit.

Where the vacuum pump is not equipped with an electrical disconnect device, it should be noted in the User's Manual that this device is to be provided by the user.

harnesses:

  • Be adequately secured and protected;
  • Do not contact with hot surfaces;
  • Have adequate electrical insulation.

In cases where the high or low temperature of the working environment, lubricant or cooling medium may pose a hazard to personnel, the temperature will be monitored and vacuum pumps will be made safe in case the limits are exceeded.
