EN 1170-5 Precast Concrete Products - Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement - Part 5: Test for Measuring Flexural Strength

This European standard specifies a test method for determining the tensile and deformation performance of a GRC composition subjected to bending, at the limit of proportionality and at fracture. It is also used to establish the relationship between 28-day conventional strength and 7-day strength for a given GRC composition.

Make the sample panels sequentially on two flat sheets without the coating layer (solid GRC only) under the same conditions as the actual production they represent: spray or premix. After 24 hours, remove and store the two sample panels for 6 days under the same conditions as the actual production they represent.

Changes in thickness of test pieces should not exceed 5% and should be limited to 0,5 mm.

The optimum value is determined by the specification and is a function of end use. If the result obtained does not match the specified value, run a second test to confirm the information before making adjustments to the process.
