This Standard provides a method for classifying the performance of door leaves, door frames, door sets and door assemblies according to their resistance to vertical load, static torsion, soft and heavy object impact and hard object impact, where appropriate. Performance level indicates normal use for various task categories. Special requirements such as burglar resistance or security requirements regarding glass inlays are excluded.
EN 1192 is directly related to the durability of doors, including aspects such as their ability to withstand repeated use without significant wear or failure. This involves testing doors for their operating life under various conditions and frequencies of use.
On the other hand, when discussing the durability requirements of doors, we may be looking at different elements such as resistance to forced entry, structural integrity under load, or impact resistance. These features are addressed more specifically in other standards related to doors and windows within the scope of European Norms.
The performance of the tests shall not cause the sample to suffer undesirable damage or deformation, including loosening of hardware or joints, or dislocation or disintegration of any of its composite parts. Small cracks in the wood near the lock, latch or lock are allowed, provided the hardware does not become loose or dislodged and the door remains functional.
Hinged or revolving doors must be tested in accordance with EN 947. This specifies the method to be used to determine the permanent deformation that occurs when a vertical load is applied to the free edge of an open door leaf fixed to its frame.
