EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 13571 standard. EN 13571 Test Methods for Shoes, Uppers, Lining and Socks, Standard Test for Tear Strength

To form two legs, a test specimen with a single slot is loaded into a tensile testing machine such that the slot is parallel to the axis of the machine and one leg is compressed in each jaw.

The jaws are spread apart to tear the material until the tear spreads to one side of the test specimen. The initial force required to initiate the tear, the median force required to sustain the tear, the maximum force required to sustain the tear, and the type of tear are recorded.

In the case of boots, this also includes the outer surface of the material covering the leg. Only visible materials are included, underlying materials should not be considered.
