This standard provides the basic requirements for hydraulic part-turn valve actuators, both double-acting and single-acting, used for on-off and modulating control tasks. Contains guidelines, recommendations and methods for containment and corrosion protection, inspection and testing.
It does not apply to hydraulic actuators or electro-hydraulic actuators that are integral parts of control valves. Other requirements or conditions of use other than those specified in this standard should be subject to negotiations between the purchaser and the manufacturer/supplier prior to ordering.
The manufacturer/supplier of the actuator shall specify the travel time in both directions without external load and without valves at working pressure and without any significant external restrictions on feed flow, unless otherwise specified.
Actuators will be designed taking into account technical principles and features for safety. The design of spring return actuators should allow for safe assembly/disassembly if the manufacturer's/supplier's instructions are followed.
The actuator shall be equipped with an indicator arrangement or device to clearly indicate the position of the valve obturator which must be in conjunction with the valve obturator during power or manual operation. If necessary, it will be possible to adjust the indicator.
