EN 351-1 Durability of Wood and Wood-Based Products - Test for Protective Penetration

This part of EN 351 provides the terminology to be used by the specifier when preparing a protective treatment specification or product standard. It is not a treatment specification per se.

This part of EN 351 is applicable to the production of protectively treated solid wood, including glued laminated wood, suitable for use in the service conditions defined by the usage classes in EN 335-1. It does not apply to subsequent inspections of treated wood in use.

This part of EN 351 is applicable to the protection of wood against attacks by fungi, insects and marine organisms that destroy and degrade wood.

This part of EN 351 does not take into account other properties of treated wood such as odor, abrasiveness and compatibility with other materials, and any health, safety and environmental aspects.

This part of EN 351 does not apply to wood treated with formulations applied to timber in service to eliminate or control an existing fungal or insect infestation, or to prevent attack by sapstain fungi or insects in green timber.
