During analysis, use only reagents specified in ISO 6353-2 unless otherwise specified, otherwise use recognized reagents.
The surface of a tile to be tested must be clean and free of grease or other substances that could interfere with the performance of the test. To ensure cleanliness, the tile should be thoroughly washed in tap water containing a small amount of detergent and rinsed with 2nd degree water, then dried with a strainer or a soft clean cloth. Care should be taken not to touch the glazed surface after washing.
Apply a 6mm wide strip of silicone sealant to the glazed surface around the entire perimeter. Visually verify that the strip is complete and in contact with the glazed surface around the entire circumference. Also make sure it is high enough to allow the addition of a sufficient volume of test solution. The height of the silicone sealant from the glazed surface will be at least 4 mm. Allow the sealant to dry overnight.
