The geometric properties of the pipes must comply with the requirements of ISO 8772. Also, any combination of nominal diameter and wall thickness should be allowed, provided it is verified by design calculations that take into account both installation and operating loads for a given pipe.

When pipes are mounted to each other or to components, the connections shall conform to ISO 8772. All butt fusions will be externally beaded and internally beaded if requested by the customer.

Precautions shall be taken to ensure that excessive damage to the lining pipe does not occur during unloading, on-site transportation and storage. In this context, excessive damage means any scratch deeper than 10% of the wall thickness, or any severe bending that results in a permanent bend, crease or fold.

Pipe reels will be used in all pipe handling operations except the crane. The rollers will minimize friction loads and prevent damage to the pipe being moved during butt jointing and assembly operations.

Winching equipment usually consists of a winch cable and an electric winch connected to the covering pipe with the appropriate nose cone connection. Rod hauling equipment usually consists of a hydraulic ram driven conveyor with a suitable nose cone connection and connected to the liner tube by a series of rods that are screwed or hooked together.
