This standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trade and distribution of all textile products made of at least 70% certified organic natural fiber. Final products may include fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, fashion textile accessories (carried or worn), textile toys, home textiles, bedding and bedding, and textile personal care products.
The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements for maintaining the organic status of textile products, from the harvest of raw materials to environmentally and socially responsible production to labeling, in order to provide credible assurance to the consumer.
Processors, manufacturers, traders or retailers who have proven to the approved certification body that they can comply with the relevant GOTS criteria in the relevant certification procedure receive a GOTS scope document issued in accordance with the policy and template for the issuance of scope certificates (SC). Thus, they are considered as certified organizations. The scope documents list the processing, manufacturing and commercial activities documented within the scope of the certification, as well as the products/product categories that the certified organizations can offer in accordance with the standard.
Makes comments and explanations for the specific criteria of GOTS. Its purpose is to prevent contradictory, inappropriate and misinterpretation of the Standard. It also includes the requirements and detailed specifications for the certification bodies for the implementation of the GOTS and the relevant quality assurance system.
