ISO 1382 Rubber - Vocabulary

Some do not define terms for specific rubber products given in the vocabulary standards listed in the Bibliography.

It does not define terms that are generally understood or adequately defined in other readily available sources, such as general dictionaries. Terms are listed in alphabetical order of English terms, and an index of corresponding English terms is included. Symbols have full descriptions below.

This standard is intended to assist those unfamiliar with rubber industry terminology. However, it is also intended to be used as a guide by the rubber industry itself in the selection of appropriate proposed terms to minimize possible confusion and to be used in other International Standards and other rubber-related reports and publications.

Attention is also drawn to ISO 472 and ISO 18064 because they contain many common terms relevant to the rubber and plastic industries. For convenience, the standards and other relevant resources referenced in this glossary are listed in the first section of the Bibliography. Terms related to finished rubber products are listed in the second part of the Bibliography.
