ISO 4548-13 specifies a test method for determining burst pressures and failure mode of full-flow lubricating oil filters for internal combustion engines to determine their ability to withstand a target of static pressure at high and cold temperatures.
ISO 4548 (all parts) specifies standard test procedures for measuring the performance of full-flow lubricating oil filters for internal combustion engines. The series is prepared in separate chapters, each dealing with a specific performance feature.
The tests together provide the necessary information to evaluate the properties of a filter, but tests can be performed separately if agreed between the buyer and the manufacturer.
This part of ISO 4548 deals with filter modules made of composite materials for internal combustion engines in terms of static explosion pressure.
Test equipment shall include a hydraulic hand pump or other suitable technology, high-pressure piping and valves to create the required pressure, a pressure device with a measuring range of 0 kPa to 3000 kPa or higher, located downstream of the filter under test. Requires specified pressure target and an adapter to install the complete filter.
To allow continuous monitoring of the pressure and to detect the pressure at which leakage occurs, a means of recording the pressure or determining the maximum pressure reached should be provided. Test equipment shall be designed so that operators can safely conduct the test.
The oil will be functional between -30°C and +150°C (or temperature range agreed by manufacturer and purchaser) to prevent it from burning or gelling. The viscosity of the oil will be between 5 mm²/s and 10000 mm²/s in the temperature range.
