This standard describes the flexing hose impact test of rubber or plastic hydraulic hose assemblies at both high and low impact pressures. The high pressure test is performed at pressures greater than 3 MPa and the low pressure test at pressures from 1,5 MPa to 3 MPa. The test procedure is applicable to hydraulic hose assemblies that are subject to pulsating pressures in service, as specified in the product requirements.
Hydraulic hoses and hose assemblies often flex during service. This International Standard provides a standard method of flexing during impact testing, as this may need to be taken into account during testing.
The vertical centerline passing through the fixed manifold at each connection is a distance l from the center of rotation or reciprocating motion of the movable manifold. In all cases, the hose is subjected to a backward bending motion by bending the inside radius to a radius smaller than the minimum bend radius, and the radius near each coupling to a radius greater than the minimum bend radius.
Attach one end of the test piece assembly to the movable manifold of the apparatus and the other end to the fixed manifold. Perform the pressure pulse test as described in ISO 6803. Start the test and continue until it fails or the number of cycles specified in the relevant product standard has been completed. If a fault occurs within 25 mm of one of the end connections, it should be considered a connection error and recorded as such.
