This standard contains system requirements only when necessary for compliance assessment.
This standard also specifies requirements for the integrity of the fire detection and fire alarm system when connected to other systems. This standard does not specify how the system is designed, installed and used in any particular application.
This standard does not cover components or functions not included in fire detection and alarm systems (FDAS), such as functions performed by a building management system.
Evaluation methods are determined to allow an acceptable degree of confidence within the predetermined operational and environmental conditions to be achieved.
The transmission path requirements used for a distributed function are covered by a related ISO standard, not in this document.
This standard applies to systems where components are connected to control and indication equipment (CIE) and components are interconnected by electrical cables or optical fiber or radio frequency links, or any combination thereof.
