This part of this standard specifies a fire test method for determining the fire resistance of closure and conveyor system assemblies designed to be installed within the openings of separating elements, including the required sealing between the cover of a conveyor system and any penetrating component such as conveyor rails. Electrical cables and pneumatic tubing are essential parts of the closure and conveyor system assembly, along with the penetration seal.
This part of the European standard cannot be applied to other test methods required to fully evaluate covers for conveyor systems. Fire tests of fire dampers for heating and ventilation systems, fire doors and shutters for normal traffic routes, and the movement of liquids and combustible gases are specifically excluded from this European standard.
This part of this European standard was developed to provide a method of fire resistance testing for a conveyor system to evaluate the contribution of a cover to the fire resistance of a separator including all fastening parts and a frame/guide.
The number of test samples should be chosen as described in EN 1363-1. If the test is carried out from only one side because the test specimen is symmetrical in terms of their height, including both floor arrangements on both sides, or because it must resist fire from only one side, this shall be stated in the test report.
