NF P92-501 Fire Test According to Construction Materials (M Grade)

This standard covers rigid building materials, rigid substrate materials for flooring, flexible materials thicker than 5 mm and other similar building materials. Flame height and burning time applied to the materials to be tested during these tests are important factors.

While performing the tests, the surface of the sample should be cut at an angle of 45 degrees and this surface should be exposed to a certain heat radiation. When the fire source is removed from the sample, the flame should go out.

This rating standard classifies the fire test results as M1, M2, M3 and M4 as follows:

• M1 value is not flammable (0
• M2 value indicates low flammability (2.5
• M3 value indicates moderate flammability (15
• M4 indicates flammability (q> 50).
