EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of AS 1530.2 standard. This method is applicable to testing thin sheet or woven material that is sufficiently pliable to be manually inserted into the test apparatus without undergoing special softening treatment, so that it can be rated according to a flammability index. The test is not suitable for materials that easily melt or ignite away from a flame.
The sample is mounted vertically on a frame and a flame is applied to its base. The maximum height that the flame reaches in a certain time or the time it takes for the flame tip to reach a predetermined height is recorded together with the air temperature in a chimney mounted above the sample. The flammability index of the material is determined from these measurements.
The test results relate only to the behavior of test specimens of the material under certain test conditions and are not intended to be the sole criterion for assessing the potential fire hazard of the material in use.
