This European standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for indoor playgrounds and folding playgrounds for a child up to a body weight of 15 kg. If a playground has more than one function or can be converted to another function, it must comply with the relevant standards.
If the playground is designed to include additional products, a hazard and risk analysis should be performed to identify potential hazards.
Abutments that prevent the goods from sliding but do not tip over shall be used, with the lowest abutment not higher than 12 mm, in which case the lowest abutment to prevent the goods from slipping, except where the design of the goods requires the use of higher abutments.
The tests are designed to be applied to fully assembled and ready-to-use playgrounds. If the disassembled type, the playpen must be assembled according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the playground can be assembled or combined in different ways, the most demanding combinations will be used for each test.
Forces in static load tests should be applied slowly enough to ensure that negligible dynamic force is applied. The forces in the strength tests should be applied at such a rate that overheating does not occur.
Playgrounds that do not allow a child's hand to pass through the barrier shall be excluded from this requirement, with the outside of the playground 300 mm below the rim. On playgrounds that allow a child's hand to pass through the barrier, only the underside of the floor will be excluded from this requirement.
