In the TS 3078-1 standard published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), definitions of thermoplastic waterstop gaskets applied to constructions are made in order to provide watertightness to the joints formed in concrete structures, and the requirements for the form and dimensions of these gaskets are explained.
During the preparation of this standard, the following standards developed by the German Standardization Institute (DIN) were taken into account:
Thermoplastics are a type of plastic composed of polymer resins that soften when heated and harden when cooled. This material is easily recycled and does not show any chemical changes when heated or cooled multiple times. Essentially, these features make recycling easier. When thermoplastics are heated, their physical properties change and become a homogenized liquid, making it possible to reshape or size. It is then processed by methods such as injection molding, extrusion and blow molding.
Waterstops are static seals installed between the joints of concrete structures to prevent the passage of water or other liquids. The waterstop is embedded in the concrete or along the joint.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides testing services for sealing gaskets used as waterstops in joints in concrete structures, within the scope of TS 3078-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. .
