This European Standard specifies minimum quality requirements (regarding optical, visual and edge defects) and durability tests for silver-plated float glass mirrors for indoor use.
This European Standard applies only to silver coated glass mirrors manufactured from flat annealed clear or colored float glass 2 mm to 10 mm thick and supplied in stock/standard sizes and cut finished sizes.
This European Standard does not apply to silvered glass mirrors made of any basic glass other than float glass, any processed glass, i.e. thermally toughened safety glass, heat-strengthened glass, chemically strengthened glass and laminated glass, and any bent glass.

According to this European Standard, the silver-coated flat glass mirror must be manufactured from solid flat glass conforming to EN 572-2. Actual thickness will be the average of four measurements taken from the center of each edge to the nearest 0,01 mm. The measurement should be made with a caliper micrometer type instrument.
The quality of a silvered mirror can be affected by defects that alter the appearance of reflected objects. Such changes in the image can be caused by optical defects, defects in the glass and defects in the reflective coating.
