EN 13416 Flexible Sheets for Waterproofing - Testing Bituminous - Plastic and Rubber Sheets for Roof Waterproofing

This standard is applied together with the product specifications on the bituminous, plastic and rubber sheets used in roof waterproofing from which the test samples are taken.

This standard is designed for the characterization of flexible sheets for waterproofing as manufactured or supplied prior to use. This standard relates exclusively to products or, where appropriate, to their components and not to waterproofing membrane systems consisting of such products and installed in the workplace.

Unfold the selected sample on a flat surface and cut a test piece of full width and appropriate length to allow cutting of the required test samples. The outer turn of the roll will be rejected unless protected by suitable packaging.

The test piece should be marked to indicate the material, the top surface of the plate, and the direction of manufacture. Unless otherwise specified in the relevant European standards for flexible sheets for roof waterproofing, the test piece must be stored at (23 ± 2)°C for at least 20 hours before cutting the test specimens.

The test piece must be inspected before the test specimens are cut; The test piece shall show no signs of wrinkling as a result of the sampling procedure or transport and ensure that the test piece is free of any visible defects according to EN 1850-1 or EN 1850-2 respectively.
