EN 14903 Surfaces for Sports Fields, Multisport Floor Systems for Indoor Use, Test Method for Determining Rolling Friction

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 14903 standard. This European standard specifies a method for determining the friction between multisport flooring systems, excluding synthetic turf, for indoor use, and a rotating foot with vertical load. The method is applicable to tests carried out in the laboratory and in the field.

EN 14903 Surfaces for Sports Fields, Multisport Floor Systems for Indoor Use, Test Method for Determining Rolling Friction

Friction is measured by allowing a circular test foot with test soles attached to rotate over the sports surface under a vertical load. Frictional resistance is calculated by recording torque when the rotating test foot contacts the test surface and then slides in rotation until the foot comes to a complete stop. From here, the coefficient of friction µ is calculated.

The test chambers supplied will be large enough to run tests at at least three different locations. For field elastic floors, only the top layers (wooden surface, PUR coating, PVC coating or linoleum) should be used in the test.
