EN 1860-4 Devices for Barbecues - Solid Fuels and Fire Starters - Part 4: Solid Fuel Disposable Barbecues - Requirements and Test Methods

This standard is part 1860 of the European standard EN 4 for devices used in barbecue, solid fuels and fire starters, which aims to reduce the risks that may occur during and during barbecue with solid fuels. When operating and manipulating the disposable barbecue, accessible edges and corners must be burr-free. Rough surfaces, sharp edges and corners that may cause injury are not allowed.

To avoid additional use of the single barbecue, the grill cannot be removed without rendering the single use of the barbecue unusable. The grill shall be fixed to the fuel compartment in such a way that removal is possible only by the deliberate action of the operator to render the disposable barbecue unusable. Disposable barbecue should be sold with an extinguishing material or in fireproof packaging to avoid the risk of fire after use.

The disposable barbecue should be equipped with an ash catcher or designed so that it is not possible to spill any embers or fuel. This will be verified during testing. A means will be provided to prevent accidental movement of the stand or brazier during normal use. The locking or unlocking device must not operate unintentionally.

The disposable barbecue is placed on a horizontal plane made of plywood with a thickness of about 25 mm, the surface of which is painted matte black. The fire is lit, the disposable barbecue is started, and the surface temperature of the plywood is measured continuously for the time it takes for the charcoal to burn completely.
