EN 280-2 Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Part 2: Expanded Lifting Structure and Test Standard for Load-Lifting Devices on the Work Platform

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 280-2 standard. This standard, to be used in conjunction with EN 280-1, specifies additional safety requirements for MEWPs of Type 1 Group B equipped with a load lifting device.

The hoist is designed to lift suspended loads as part of the task performed by personnel from the work platform only.

This standard deals with additional hazards, hazardous situations and events associated with lifting devices on a stretched lifting structure or work platform when the MEWP and the load lifting device are used as intended and under conditions of misuse that are reasonably foreseeable by it.

This standard does not cover:

• Use of a MEWP to lift people as a hanging load;
• use of a MEWP to lift suspended loads from a control position other than the work platform;
• Requirements for lifting accessories;
• Lifting or lowering suspended loads for general material handling by a crane;
• Fixed load attachment points on the work platform or extended lifting structure where the load can be positioned within reach of personnel on the platform;
• Lifting equipment for lifting or lowering the load with a stable platform. The equipment is attached to the work platform or extending structure and may have a lift arm.
