EN 62552-3 Household Refrigeration Appliances, Specifications and Test methods, Part 3: Standard Test for Energy Consumption and Volume

EN 62552-3 specifies the basic characteristics of home and similar cooling devices cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation and specifies test methods for checking these properties.

This part of EN 62552 describes methods for determining energy consumption characteristics and describes how they can be combined to estimate energy consumption under different usage and climatic conditions. This part of EN 62552 also defines the determination of volume.

All sections of the standard have been substantially rewritten and updated to deal with new testing requirements, new product configurations, the emergence of electronic product controls, and computer-based test room data acquisition and processing equipment.

For more efficient analysis and to better characterize key product properties under different operating conditions, the test data from the many energy tests in chapter 3 have now been broken down into components.

The approach to determining energy consumption has been completely revised, now including many internal controls, to ensure that data conforming to the standard's requirements is as accurate and of high quality as possible. Chapter 3 now presents a method for measuring each of the energy components involved and approaches on how they can be combined to estimate energy under different conditions with the expectation that different regions will select the most appropriate components and weights when tuning.
