EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of ISO 7768 testing. ISO 7768 specifies a method for assessing the retention of the original smooth appearance of tested fabrics after one or more cleaning processes.

ISO 7768 Textiles - Test Method for Evaluating the Uniform Appearance of Fabrics After Cleaning

This method was primarily developed for use in the cleaning process of Type B household washing machines defined in ISO 6330. However, it may be possible to use it with Type A machines as defined in the same International Standard. This test method can be used to evaluate the appearance of smoothness after other cleaning processes.

Prints and patterns on fabric are known to mask knots in fabrics. However, this does not completely mask the smooth look approach, which aims to offer the consumer fabrics that require little or no ironing.

The purpose of the test method in question is to determine the smoothness appearance of fabrics after being subjected to home washing processes. Various washing and drying procedures provide standard parameters that represent common home care options.

It was carried out to compare the measurement and evaluation of the wrinkling appearance of textile products after washing and drying at home. The main disadvantages of this type of assessment are its subjectivity and limitations when used with clothing. Because different pieces of clothing have different effects on human perception.

Traditional computer vision methods cannot well match human performance in fabric smoothness classification because it is a subjective assessment based on extensive visual perception. Fabric smoothness appearance evaluation plays an important role in the textile and garment industry. After all, objectively assessing the smoothness of the fabric is a challenging task.

In existing objective methods based on image analysis, fabric smoothness is a subjective concept related to human visual perception. In this regard, the features that define the fabric surface structure are widely used. While new methods are being developed, the relationship between the spatial masking effect in the human visual system and the fabric smoothness perceived by the human is analyzed and effective methods are developed for objective fabric smoothness evaluation.
