ISO 8124-3 Safety of Toys, Part 3: Standard Test Method for Migration of Certain Items

The requirements in this standard apply to the following toys and toy components of toys and toy materials:

  • All intended food and oral contact toys, cosmetic toys and writing instruments classified as toys, regardless of any age classification or recommended age labeling;
  • All toys intended or suitable for children under 72 months of age;
  • Accessible overlays regardless of any age classification or recommended age labeling;
  • Accessible liquids, pastes and gels (e.g. liquid paints, modeling compounds) regardless of any age classification or recommended age labeling.

Packaging materials, such as boxes and containers, are not included unless they are intended to be contained or form part of the toy or are of intended play value.
