When PU is injected (reaction molded) in the shoe industry, this process does not require the use of DMF. It is possible to use DMF for PU coated material.

This test method is applicable to all types of shoe materials. Tin-organic substances are extracted from the shoe material with a methanol-ethanol mixture of medium acid strength with tropolone as a complexing agent.

Weigh 10 mg of DMFo-d7 to an accuracy of 10 mg in a 0,1 ml measuring flask and fill up to the mark with methanol. The contents are also transferred to an amber 10 ml bottle with PTFE tap and kept at 4°C. DMFo is analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry using a single quad/MS in simultaneous SIM/SCAN mode.

The sample is cut into small pieces and extracted with methanol in a sealed bottle in an ultrasonic bath at 1°C for 70 hour. An aliquot is then analyzed using a gas chromatograph with a mass selective detector.
