BS 5896 Standard Test for Properties of High Tensile Steel Wire and Wire for Prestressing Concrete

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of BS 5896 standard. This British standard specifies general requirements for uncoated high tensile steel products commonly used for prestressing concrete as well as for other tensile applications in construction. The standard only applies to products supplied by the manufacturer.

Compliance of the prestressed steel with the requirements of this British standard will be demonstrated by the manufacturer's inspection.

Prestressed steels to this British standard will be produced under a permanent factory production control system that will provide the same level of confidence in the conformity of the finished product whatever the manufacturing process.

The inspection unit shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of this British standard if all the results of the tests are greater than or equal to the characteristic value of the mechanical properties, less than the maximum value for the maximum force, and within the following tolerances.

If one or more of these additional tests do not meet specifications, the relevant product unit will be rejected. In addition, all product units will be tested for defective properties from the last good result to the next goods result.
