Any reciprocating guide component in the main valve body that is required to operate to enable the wet alarm valve to open shall have a minimum diameter clearance of not less than 0,7 mm at the portion where the movable component enters the fixed component. and not less than 0,05 mm on that part of the moving component that is in permanent contact with the stationary component in readiness.

A filter shall be installed when the diameter of the water passages in the delay chamber is 6 mm or less. The maximum size of openings in the strainer shall not be more than two-thirds the diameter of the smallest water passage to be protected by the strainer. The total cross-sectional area of ​​the openings in the strainer shall not be less than twenty times the cross-sectional area of ​​the water passages.

The retardation chamber shall contain means for its support. If pipe is to be used for this support, the size of pipe to be used and the maximum length of pipe so used shall be specified in the instruction sheets supplied with the delay chamber.

The delay chamber shall be equipped with means for automatic discharge. The time it takes for the delay chamber to be completely filled with water and discharged to the atmosphere, including the relevant trim specified by the manufacturer, shall not exceed 5 minutes.

Installation and operating instructions shall be provided with each wet alarm valve and each delay chamber. These will include a drawing showing the recommended mounting method and trim function, images illustrating mounting views and operation, and maintenance and repair recommendations.
