EN 1364-4 Fire Resistance for Non-Load-Bearing Elements - Test for Curtain Wall, Part Configuration

Examines fire resistance to internal and external fire exposure of:

• Spandrel panel, i.e. bottom, upright or a combination thereof, or
• environmental seal or
• Fixing the framing system (anchor) used to fasten the curtain wall to the floor element or
• combinations of these.

The results from the tests according to this standard form the basis for the classification of type A curtain wall .

The results for type B curtain wall can be used to determine the fire resistance of curtain wall parts to increase the field of application when previously tested according to EN 1364. EN 1364 3 should be used for the intended classification EW and corner/directional samples.

This European Standard does not cover double skin façades, top cladding systems and ventilated façade systems on exterior walls. It is not concerned with the reaction behavior of the curtain wall to fire.

This standard is intended to be read in conjunction with EN 1363 1 and EN 1363 2 as well as EN 1364 3 for type B curtain wall.

It provides informative guidance on the principles and test method of curtain wall test pieces.
