EN 13897 Flexible Sheets for Waterproofing - Bituminous - Test for Plastic and Rubber Sheets

This standard is valid only for mechanically bonded single layer waterproofing. This standard is prepared for roofing applications, but can also be used in other areas where it is relevant.

The test specimen is stretched to a certain elongation (percent) at low temperature. The sample is then tested for watertightness by means of a vacuum pad and soap solution in the stretched condition at room temperature.

The tensioning device is equipped with two jaws to hold a test specimen. A handle can be moved in the plane of the test specimen to achieve elongation and fixed in position at a predetermined value. The test specimen should be stretched across its entire width without slipping in the jaws.

Two test specimens cut in the manufacturing direction of the material and two test specimens cut perpendicular to it should be taken from the test piece. Test specimens should be taken at equal intervals on the test piece and at least 100 mm from the edges. The test specimens will be approximately 200 mm × 420 mm in size.
