EN ISO 10545-9 Ceramic Tiles, Part 9: Standard Test for Determination of Resistance to Thermal Shock

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 10545-9 test standard. EN ISO 15045-9 specifies a test method for determining the resistance of all ceramic tiles to thermal shock under normal use conditions.

EN ISO 10545-9 Ceramic Tiles, Part 9: Standard Test for Determination of Resistance to Thermal Shock

Depending on the water absorption of the tiles, different procedures (immersion or non-immersion tests) are used, unless otherwise agreed.

It covers the determination of the resistance of an entire tile to thermal shock by cycling 15 times between temperatures of 145°C and 10°C.

In the case of immersion testing applied to all tiles with a water absorption coefficient less than or equal to 10% (determined according to ISO10545-3), the bath will not be covered and will be of sufficient depth.

In the case of a non-immersion test applied to glazed tiles with a water absorption coefficient of greater than 10% (determined in accordance with ISO 10545-3) by mass, the bath should thus be covered with a thick aluminum sheet. The aluminum sheet will be covered with a layer of aluminum granules of about 0,3 mm in diameter ranging from 0,6 mm to 5 mm.
