EN ISO 12957-2 Geosynthetics, Determination of Frictional Properties, Part 2: Inclined Plane Test

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 12957-2 standard. EN ISO 12957-2 describes a method for determining the frictional properties of geosynthetics (geotextiles and geotextile-related products, geosynthetic barriers) in contact with soil at low normal stress, using an inclined plane apparatus.

EN ISO 12957-2 Geosynthetics, Determination of Frictional Properties, Part 2: Inclined Plane Test

This method is primarily intended as a performance test to be used with site-specific soils, but can also be used as an index test with standard sand.

The test data obtained for geogrids tested with a rigid support may not be realistic as the results are dependent on the friction support.

The friction angle for the soil/geosynthetic system is determined by measuring the slip angle of a box filled with soil (with possible additional weights) when the base supporting the geosynthesis is inclined at a constant rate.
