This part of EN ISO 17299 describes condensate sampling analyzes to measure the very low concentration of odor chemicals, which is assumed to be at the human odor detection threshold level.

After a certain period of time, the concentration of a gaseous fragrance chemical in a container with or without a textile sample is measured with instrumented devices. The rate of decrease in the concentration of gaseous fragrance chemicals is calculated from the difference of the average concentration data obtained from the container with sample and the container without sample. The test should be done separately for each chemical.

After sampling the fragrance chemical in a thermal desorption GC, mount an adsorption tube, then measure the gas concentration of the fragrance chemical. Available as FID, FPD or MS, GC detector.

If methyl mercaptan and hydrogen sulfide are used, the absorbing solution after sampling with the impinger can be measured by an ion chromatography.
