EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 8340 standard. EN ISO 8340 specifies a method for determining the tensile properties at maintained elongation of sealants used in joints in building construction.

The test specimens are prepared in such a way that the sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces. Test specimens are stretched to a defined width and this extension is maintained under defined conditions. Any loss of adhesion or cohesion is recorded.

Substrate materials will be selected from mortar or anodized aluminum or glass. Other substrate materials may be used as agreed by the parties concerned.

Test specimens shall be conditioned according to either method A or method B as agreed between the parties concerned.

  • Method A, test specimens shall be conditioned at (23 ± 2)°C and (50 ± 5) % relative humidity for 28 days;
  • Method B, test samples should be conditioned according to method A and then subjected to three storage cycles.
