Mass loss due to wear is determined by the slip that occurs by adjusting different slip angles and rotational speeds between the wheel-shaped rubber test piece and an abrasive disc that rotates at right angles to each other in planes and is pressed against each other. The specified load The test result can be reported as an index of mass loss or wear resistance per unit operating distance compared to a reference compound.

Since the described tester can independently adjust each wear parameter such as slip angle, rotation speed of the abrasive disc and load, the method is suitable for performing a wide range of wear tests for various rubber products, especially tires.
A wheel-shaped test piece and an abrasive disc are pressed together at right angles with a given load. The abrasive disc is rotated causing the test piece to rotate with it. Wear occurs due to sliding between the test piece and the abrasive disc.
The loss in mass of the test piece is measured and the loss per unit working distance is calculated. The wear resistance index can also be determined by comparing the loss in mass per unit working distance of a reference compound tested under the same conditions with the loss in mass of the test piece.
