If testing will not be performed immediately after conditioning, individual measurement samples and filter papers should be kept in closed containers until the start of testing. Each measurement sample should be checked within 3 minutes of removal from the climate chamber or sealed container.

Only the outer side of the textile product, in the form of a worn garment, will be tested. If the outside cannot be determined, only the side showing the surface flame in the preliminary tests will be tested.

Depending on the construction of the garment, measurement samples for garments may consist of one or more layers of material. In this case, the material combination will be tested in the condition in which it will be worn. Six measurement samples, each 560 mm long and 170 mm wide, representing the fabric will be cut.
