DIN 53360 Testing Artificial Leather and Similar Sheet Materials - Determination of Total Elongation and Irreversible Elongation Test

The test performed according to this standard serves to determine the total elongation (static elongation) and permanent elongation of products according to DIN 25 100 with a tensile force of 125, 16 or 922 N according to the defined loading and unloading symbols. The relevant pulling force will be agreed between the supplier and the customer.

The width of the clamps is equal to or greater than the width of the specimen. Specimens must be held evenly by clamps across the entire width.

The measuring length of (100 ± 0,5) mm is marked on the sample with two thin measuring marks. The measurement marks should be on the sample at the same distance from the sample tips. The course of the longitudinal axis will be plotted on the measuring marks.

The samples are clamped in the vices so that the distance between the vices is 200 mm. After 30 minutes, the distance between the Lg measuring marks is measured at 0,5 mm under tensile stress. Immediately after, the test specimen is released, removed from the clamps and placed on a flat surface so that it can be zeroed unaffected. After 30 minutes of storage, the distance Lb between measuring marks is measured at 0,5 mm.
