EN 1176-2 Playground Equipment and Surface Coating, Part 2: Additional Specific Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Swings

The minimum ground clearance for disposable swings should be 350 mm in the resting position. For group rocker seats, the minimum ground clearance in the rest position should be 400 mm. For group rocking chairs with a flexible lower part, the ground clearance should be a minimum of 400 mm when measured from the underside of the rigid part of the seat at its most demanding position.

The seat clearance must be at least 400 mm outside the beam direction to which the suspension is fixed. If the side of the swivel chair comes into contact with the swivel frame during use, a protective material can be attached to the frame to protect the beam and seat at this point.
