EN 1245 Adhesives - Test for Determination of PH

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1245 standard. This standard specifies a method for electrometry determination of the pH of adhesives, their essential constituents and related products using a pH meter equipped with a glass and silver reference combined electrode.

EN 1245 Adhesives - Test for Determination of PH

This standard is applicable to products supplied in an aqueous medium of known concentration and to products that can be dissolved, dispersed or suspended in water. Not applicable to adhesives that react with water.

The accuracy of the method decreases at pH values above 11.

While separate electrodes can be used, it is recommended to replace them with combined electrodes.

The electrodes run linearly between pH 0 and the appearance of alkaline fault, which usually does not start until after pH 11, depending on the sodium ion concentration.

Alkaline buffer solutions are unstable; absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. When using an alkaline buffer for calibration, accuracy can be verified by means of a pH 4 buffer solution.

For ecological reasons, silver/silver chloride electrodes are preferred to mercury/calomel electrodes.
