This European standard specifies the design, manufacture, construction, safety and performance (efficiency and emissions) instructions for type testing of solid fuel domestic room heaters and the relevant test methods and requirements for marking together with test fuels.
This standard is applicable to non-mechanically fired devices. These devices provide heat to the area where they are installed. In addition, when equipped with a boiler, they also provide domestic hot water or central heating.
These appliances can burn solid mineral fuels, peat briquettes, natural or manufactured wood logs, or may be multi-fuel according to the appliance manufacturer's instructions. This standard does not apply to appliances with fan assisted combustion air.
