EN 13492 Geosynthetic Barriers - Test for Use in the Construction of Transfer Stations or Secondary Enclosure

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 13492 testing. This European Standard specifies the properties of geosynthetic barriers, including polymeric geosynthetic barriers, clay geosynthetic barriers and bitumen geosynthetic barriers when used as liquid barriers and separation layer in the construction of liquid waste disposal sites and in the construction of transfer stations or secondary containment.

The intended use of these products is to control fluid leakage through the structure. This European Standard cannot be applied to geotextiles or geotextile related products as defined in EN ISO 10318-1.

This European Standard provides for the evaluation and verification of product constancy of performance (AVCP) against this European Standard, including factory production control procedures. This European Standard defines features to be considered in relation to the presentation of performance.

The main function of geosynthetic barriers used in the construction of liquid waste disposal sites, transfer stations and secondary containment is to prevent the movement of liquids throughout the structure and to prevent the leakage of stored materials or the escape of stored materials into the environment. This includes the use of a geosynthetic barrier as a basal, side, or cover liner. Damage during installation is not covered in this document.

Gas permeability data is required when a health or safety risk from ground gas exists or is environmentally triggered. The decision to include this feature should be made by a suitably qualified person. Wherever a GBR-C is used as the sole gas barrier, it must be kept hydrated during use for the GBR-C to function as a gas barrier.

All performances related to the features in this standard will be determined when the manufacturer wishes to declare the relevant performances, unless the standard makes provisions for declaration without tests.
