EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 13758-1 standard. This European standard specifies a method for determining the erythema-weighted ultraviolet (UV) radiation transmittance of standard conditioned clothing fabrics to evaluate their sun UV protection properties.
This method is not suitable for fabrics that provide remote protection, such as umbrellas, canopy structures or artificial springs.
Total spectral transmittance is measured by irradiating the sample with monochromatic or polychromatic UV radiation and summing the total (diffuse and direct) transmitted radiation.
In the case of multicolor incident radiation, the transmitted radiation is collected in monochrome. The instrument will irradiate the sample with a parallel beam and collect all the transmitted radiation with an integrated sphere, or irradiate the sample as a hemisphere and collect a parallel beam of the transmitted radiation.
At least 4 samples will be prepared for uniform materials. These samples should be spaced as widely as possible across the width of the fabric. The first 5 cm will be taken from each edge and samples will not be taken closer than 1 m from the beginning or end of the fabric piece.
