Illustrations are examples only and products do not have to match. However, the dimensions are binding. Step stools should only be equipped with evenly spaced steps within a tolerance of ± 2 mm.

If the top surface is less than 240 mm × 400 mm, step stools or ladder-type steps with a height of more than 750 mm must be equipped with handrails.

Aging and temperature resistance should be considered when using plastic materials. Glass fiber reinforced plastics will be protected against water and dirt infiltration. The surface will be smooth. The fibers will be embedded.

Where rollers or wheels are fitted, step stools and rigid steps are to be designed to prevent any accidental displacement when loaded. The rollers will be automatically locked or automatically disabled after loading the step stool or hard steps.
