EN 14288 Leather, Physical and Mechanical Tests, Standard Test for Determination of Fogging Properties

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 14288 standard. This European standard specifies two alternative methods, Method A and Method B, for determining the fogging properties of leathers used in passenger cabins of motor vehicles. However, these are 2 different test procedures for measuring volatile compounds and there is no mathematical relationship between them.

EN 14288 Leather, Physical and Mechanical Tests, Standard Test for Determination of Fogging Properties

Method A determines the light scattering properties (or opacity) by reflecting the nature of film or droplet formation from volatile components condensed on a cold glass surface. Method B gravimetrically measures the amount of volatile compounds condensed on a cold aluminum foil surface.
