This European standard specifies the visual, dimensional, mechanical and durability properties of reinforced membranes made of plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-P) sheets combined with a polyester reinforcement of a nominal thickness of 1,5 mm or greater, applied in situ, underground floating It is intended to be used to contribute to the sealing of pools. It also specifies the characteristics of the composition of PVC-P used to manufacture the membranes.

Particularly applicable to reinforced membranes intended for use in swimming pools where the water temperature is less than or equal to 32°C. If the membrane manufacturer allows the temperature of the water to be kept above 32°C continuously, this standard applies.
A visual inspection shall be made over the minimum area of the reinforced membrane, which is 2 m long and as wide as the membrane itself. Inspection shall be made on samples from both sides of the membrane taken randomly from a roll placed tension-free on a flat, opaque surface.
The reinforced membrane shall have no visible defects to the naked eye such as bubbles, bubbles, colored lines, pinholes, specks, folds or ripples. However, air ingress and spots cannot be completely avoided in PVC-P sheet. The appearance should be uniform, like that of the reference test piece, regardless of the area being examined. The surface condition (smooth or embossed) and color reflection must match the reference test piece.
