EN 16146 Plumbing - Removable Shower Hoses for Sanitary Taps

Such hoses shall be connected only downstream of the tapware obturator. Tapware shall comply with EN 200, EN 817, EN 1111, EN 1286 or EN 1287.

This European Standard specifies:

• Dimensional, mechanical and hydraulic properties that the hose for removable outlets must comply with;
• Procedures for testing these properties.

There will be no ruptures or permanent deformations that will affect the operation of the hose. To verify that the function of the hose is maintained, the hose must then be subjected to a water tightness test using cold water at ≤ 30°C at appropriate pressure.

The purpose of this test is to verify the durability of the hose when subjected to flex only in the area adjacent to the coupling nut at the point of connection to the outlet.

The test described is a type test (laboratory test) and is not a quality control test performed during manufacturing. If the hose has a swivel connection for removable outlets that allows the hose to rotate freely relative to the shower outlet, this connection must be able to function correctly and prevent the hose from kinking.
