EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 17191 testing. This standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for seats specially designed for children who can walk and sit by themselves.
It applies to seats intended for indoor and outdoor use, including daycare centres, and on the floor for indoor and outdoor use.
Seating includes, but is not limited to, chairs, benches, stools, ottomans, lounge chairs, rocking chairs, recliners, armchairs, folding chairs, and swivel chairs.
Applies to seating function only. If the seat has additional functions or can be converted to other products, the relevant European Standards may additionally apply.
It does not apply to child care products such as highchairs, reclining cradles and seating in educational institutions where other European standards exist.
Seating arrangement in educational institutions is within the scope of EN 1729-1 and EN 1729-2 European standards. Does not apply to rocking chairs, wheelchairs, electrical safety or seating for children with special needs.
The seat will be tested as delivered. Knock-down – ready-to-install/flat-pack seats must be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the instructions allow the seating to be assembled or combined in different configurations, the most unfavorable combination should be used for each experiment.
Knockdown fittings must be tightened prior to testing. No further tightening will be done unless specifically requested by the manufacturer. If the configuration needs to be changed to create worst-case conditions, this should be recorded in the test report.
