EN 1770 Products and Systems for the Protection and Repair of Concrete Structures, Standard Test for Determination of Coefficient of Thermal Expansion

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1770 standard. This European standard specifies methods for determining the coefficient of thermal expansion of hardened structural adhesives.

The first method provides a continuous measurement of linear thermal expansion using thermomechanical analysis techniques. This method can also be used for surface protection systems. The alternative method uses 40mm x 40mm x 160mm prisms. This method can also be used for repair mortar. Both methods are suitable for bonding agents formulated with fillers up to 4 mm.

The binder to be tested will be taken from a production batch. The sample can be cut from a 40 mm X 40 mm X 160 mm prism as used in other tests.

Cylindrical or square shaped specimens shall be between 25 mm and 50 mm in length and their ends shall be straight and parallel to the inside. Lateral dimensions should not exceed 10 mm. Other lengths may be used, provided they are specified in the report. Samples should be measured in the condition taken. If the sample has been heat or mechanically treated prior to testing, this should be stated in the report.
