EN 474-1 Earthmoving Machinery, Safety, Part 1: Standard Test for General Requirements

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 474-1 standard. This standard specifies the general safety requirements for earthmoving machinery described in EN ISO 6165, hereinafter also referred to as machinery, with the exception of horizontal directional drills.

This standard gives common safety requirements for earthmoving machinery families. Parts specific to this machine (EN 474 2 - EN 474−13) do not repeat the requirements of EN 474 1, but supplement or replace the requirements of the family in question.

This standard does not provide requirements for the main electrical circuits and drives of machines when the primary energy source is an external source of electricity.

This standard does not provide performance requirements for safety-related functions of control systems. This standard is not related to towing trailers.

This standard deals with significant hazards, hazardous situations and events associated with earthmoving machinery when used as intended and under the prescribed conditions, but also taking into account any reasonably foreseeable misuse of them.
